FAQ

What is the Special Event? Who else is involved?
The Championships provides the platform for the culminating event, the Guinness World Record™ attempt of “The World’s Largest Human Floating Pink Ribbon” to raise awareness for breast cancer and the unique sport of synchronized swimming. Our goal is to set the first world record with 250+ male and female synchronized swimmers (championships competitors and the public). This event is a unique combination of athleticism, education and fund raising and allows us to promote women’s health in a fun and exciting environment. We have partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and California Skin Cancer Prevention Program to focus on providing breast cancer and skin cancer awareness and prevention information. We are anticipating this to be a significant fundraiser for Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and Sacramento Synchro.
Who is attending?
Forty-five teams from all across the United States and international locations will be attending. Swimmer’s ages range from 20-99 years and are both men and women. In addition to the athletes (300+), volunteers (50-75), and officials and nationally ranked judges (45+), we also expect hundreds of their families and supporters. We have a reputation for hosting organized and successful events. In 2004, our event hosted over 1,000 spectators. We are anticipating triple the amount of spectators with the reduced ticket cost and our outstanding media coverage before and during the event. A unique aspect of this event is that the athletes are the coaches of youth and adult synchronized swim teams from across the United States. By having these events embedded into the master’s competition, we collect the leaders and decision-makers in synchronized swimming and have the opportunity to educate them about women’s health issues, raise their awareness around prevention, and encourage them to take the information back to the thousands of youth they coach. This is also a unique opportunity to promote your business to new customers and let them know you care.
